From the Soccer Field to the Harvest Field

The past several months have been an incredibly busy season of mobilization and outreach surrounding the FIFA World Cup. As Houston hosted the tournament, God opened extraordinary doors for believers to boldly proclaim the gospel.

In partnership with some organizations, we helped build the World's Greatest Soccer Goal, creating a unique platform where believers could welcome visitors, pray with them, and share the hope of Jesus. 

Throughout this season, thousands of people from many nations had the opportunity to hear the gospel.

Revival Sport also had the privilege of leading the SoccerFest in the Alief School District, one of seven SoccerFests held across the Houston area. Nearly 700 children, youth, and family members attended the event at Alief Stadium, while 80–100 volunteers from local churches served together with great joy and unity. It was one of the most successful and joyful outreach events we have ever organized. During SoccerFest, I personally had the privilege of sharing my testimony and the gospel with more than 40 people.

One of our most effective evangelism tools throughout the summer was the Gospel Soccer Ball. Using the five colors on the ball, volunteers shared God's story—from creation and humanity's fall into sin to Christ's sacrifice, forgiveness, and the new life found in Him. A simple soccer ball became a bridge for hundreds of gospel conversations with children, youth, parents, and people from many nations.

Another team of seven believers shared the gospel with approximately 180 people in just a few hours at the World's Greatest Soccer Goal and the Fan Zone. These are only a few of the many stories that remind us how God was opening hearts throughout this remarkable season.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who prayed, served, gave, and partnered with us. The World Cup season has come to an end, but the mission continues. Please continue praying that the seeds planted this summer will bear lasting fruit and that many who heard the gospel will come to faith in Jesus Christ and grow as His faithful disciples.
